Job Summary: The Storage Architect is a leader in strategy and innovation for the storage product line. Architects research, develop, test, and implement new or substantially update existing storage needs to meet ongoing customer growth and demand for the product line. The Storage Architect is responsible for designing and implementing complex and unique storage solutions for specific customers, layout, and design of storage infrastructure in Datacenters. The role manages complex projects and is expected to evaluate cost, benefit and risk of initiatives that are evaluated. Responsible for adhering to company security policies and procedures and any other relevant policies and standards as directed.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Other Incidental tasks related to the job, as necessary.
    • Design and implement Data Center Storage capability and capacity, including development and presentation of business case for solutions.
    • Maintain current knowledge and application of emerging technologies in the storage industry and work with senior leaders to drive storage portfolio.
    • Design complex architectural storage solutions for both individual customers and multi-tenant environments.
    • Maintain a strong relationship with Rackspace’s Storage Vendors and leverage that relationship to provide solid customer service.
    • Develop projects to improve performance, efficiency, experience, capacity, etc. of environments.
    • Partner with the product team to design new storage product offerings and advanced features on current offerings.
    • Collaborate and share knowledge with other administrators and engineers via wiki articles and training presentations.
    • Develop technical best practices and minimum acceptable standards for storage technologies.
    • Coach, mentor and assists Rackers across the business.
    • Build solid organizational and cross-functional relationships.
    • Collaborate with Account Managers and Business Development Consultants to build strong customer relationships.
    • Collaborate and share knowledge with the support floor.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field. At the Manager's discretion, 4 years of additional related experience may substitute for the degree requirement; if substitution allowed, regional equivalent to High School Diploma is required.
    • Must be  highly proficient in all… Dell Data Domain, Dell NetWorker, and Dell Data Protection Advisor (DPA).
    • Advanced understanding of the unique issues related to multi-tenant storage environments and an ability to architect for those situations.
    • Advanced understanding of the storage architecture (logical and physical) and datacenter implications.
    • Advanced knowledge of storage best practices for current VMware, Hyper-V, Windows and Linux operation systems, File systems, SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and Exchange.
    • Advanced knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting, testing, and performance tuning in Storage platforms.
    • Advanced knowledge to contribute to the review, analysis, selection, testing, risk assessment and implementation of new storage technologies.
    • Advanced knowledge to develop and document the business case and options for new storage recommendations and offerings including the development and identification of all benefits, risks and basic costs (OPEX and CAPEX).
    • Advanced knowledge in storage technologies and storage best practices.
    • Advanced technical knowledge in technology troubleshooting methodologies, design, and implementation.
    • Advanced knowledge of data backup and restoration methodologies.
    • Strong knowledge and applied experience of both Project Management methodologies and Process Improvement best-practice.
    • Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field.
    • Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services.
    • Passionate about technology and has a desire to constantly expand technical knowledge.
    • Detail-oriented in documenting information and able to own customer issues through resolution.
    • A strong business acumen is required to make prudent decisions in an ever changing and complex environment.
    • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work under pressure.
    • Demonstrate sound problem-solving skills coupled with a desire to take on responsibility.
    • Exhibits strong customer service and mentoring characteristics and skills.
    • Strong technical documentation skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, both highly technical and non-technical with the ability to communicate technical information and ideas so others will understand.

The following information is required by pay transparency legislation in the following states: CA, CO, HI, NY, and WA. This information applies only to individuals working in these states.  •The anticipated starting pay range for Colorado is: $89,300 - $130,900.•The anticipated starting pay range for the states of Hawaii and New York (not including NYC) is: $95,000 - $139,260. •The anticipated starting pay range for California, New York City and Washington is: $104,000 - $152,570.  Unless already included in the posted pay range and based on eligibility, the role may include variable compensation in the form of bonus, commissions, or other discretionary payments. These discretionary payments are based on company and/or individual performance and may change at any time. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.
