The opportunity:-

    • KPMG works with a broad range of clients to review, assess and source complex technology solutions. Join KPMG Wellington as a Senior Management Consultant – Commercial Technology Specialist and become a key driver of commercial technology excellence. In this role, you’ll support our clients with reviewing and assessing the technology needs; and driving sourcing, commissioning, commercial strategy, and contract excellence—delivering innovative, high-value approach that transform business service models. You’ll have the chance to help lead and grow our technology advisory team, working on complex projects that require technical expertise, commercial acumen and strategic vision.

Day to day you will:

    • Review and assess our clients’ technology sourcing and service provision arrangements
    • Develop sophisticated technology sourcing strategies across software, services, cloud transformation and AI. 
    • Lead end-to-end sourcing process, including capability assessment, market engagement, technical evaluation of suppliers, negotiation of complex contracts, and implementation of best-in-class sourcing strategies.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand technical requirements and translate them into effective procurement solutions.
    • Support the development of technology related business cases, including leveraging Treasury’s Better Business Case methodology
    • Identify and respond to new business opportunities, leveraging your technical knowledge to add value for clients.
    • Supervise, coach, and develop staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
    • Contribute to the development and marketing of new procurement products and services.
    • Ensure high service quality by actively seeking and acting on client feedback.

What you'll bring to the team:

    • 4–10 years of relevant advisory experience in the commercial technology area or a related field, plus a tertiary qualification. 
    • A fundamental understanding of technology solutions including hyperscale cloud, software-as-a-service and off-the-shelf software packages. 
    • Demonstrated experience in one or more stages of the technology sourcing lifecycle, from sourcing Strategy through to commercial negotiation. This could either be in the form of buyer-side evaluation or significant experience in shaping commercially complex solutions for a recognized technology vendor. 
    • Experience with developing RFx processes (or other market engagement approaches), requirements definition, or contract design/review (including service schedules) 
    • Understanding of how Service Level Agreements (SLA) shape the quality-of-service delivery
    • Familiarity with hyperscale cloud, Software-as-a-Service and other modern licensing arrangements
    • Total Cost of Ownership (or equivalent) models to understand lifetime expenditure
    • Business Case development for technology initiatives
    • Exposure to business development and advisory activities, with a focus on technology solutions. 
    • Experience in staff supervision and team leadership. 
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. 
    • A driven, enthusiastic, and pragmatic approach to technical challenges. 
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and build effective relationships with stakeholders.
