SR. NETWORK SECURITY ENGINEER
SpaceX is looking for a Sr. Network Security Engineer with expertise of network security technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, etc.). This employee will be a member of the Security Engineering team. As a highly visible and dynamic organization, we must value and guard against damage to our internal information, our physical hardware, and our reputation and brand. Finally, it is paramount that we defend against loss of control or confidence in our systems, to guarantee the highest probability of success.As a Security Engineer, you will focus on the "behind the scenes" technologies that ensure our networks and systems are up to industry and SpaceX standards. You will be responsible for providing high-criticality and high-risk services, with the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of those services in mind. This role will partner with various application development and customer groups across SpaceX to ensure that the technologies and systems we build in-house or purchase and deploy in-house are designed and maintained in a secure way that minimizes risk.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Develop and implement network security tools</li>
<li>Produce threat models and assess risk around existing configurations</li>
<li>Provide subject matter expertise on network security, firewalls and industry best practices</li>
<li>Manage firewall configurations within the SpaceX enterprise network based on operational requirements</li>
<li>Analyze and proactively come up with creative network solutions for operational needs that present security challenges</li>
<li>Documenting and formalizing security processes</li>
<li>Manage and maintain network security systems by applying system patches and other periodic maintenance tasks</li>
<li>Work with other SpaceX teams to determine functional needs, develop secure architectures, and communicate security best practices and policies</li>
</ul>
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in information systems, information security, computer science, engineering and 4+ years of network security experience; OR 6+ years of network security experience in lieu of a degree</li>
<li>Experience with securing networks, IT infrastructure, applications, endpoints, and/or APIs</li>
<li>Experience hardening Windows, MacOS, and/or Linux operating systems</li>
</ul>
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

PRODUCT SECURITY ENGINEER
At SpaceX we push the boundaries of in-space capabilities with products such as our Starlink low Earth orbit satellite constellation, Starship spacecraft, and Falcon 9 launch vehicle. Our missions support scientific research, classified national security operations, and commercial endeavors. Security and reliability are at the core of these programs.
The SpaceX product security team is seeking technical, passionate security engineers to influence the security of software and hardware across our product lines. We are looking for people who see the big picture, prioritize accordingly, and are comfortable with working at different levels of abstraction.
Ideally, you have notable skills in one or more of the following: exploit development or mitigation, security architecture design, firmware security, software development, or operating system security. Being flexible, communicating clearly, and establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with other engineering teams are paramount to success.
