The work we do on the Security team will safeguard mankind becoming an interplanetary species. As the Manager of Security Operations Engineering you will ensure the Security Operations Center is equipped to respond to national state level threats by building robust detection pipelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Be a hands-on leader in the creation and execution of the detection engineering infrastructure
• Develop a visibility layer related to the detection pipeline which supports debugging and investigating anomalies in our environment
• Integrate an orchestration system for automated triage and response
• Build pipelines and APIs to enrich logs and alert results to provide a comprehensive view for security analysts
• Define and maintain the roadmap of program and technology changes being driven by the information security organization
• Manage detection engineering projects, including process improvement and technology investment
• Own SpaceX's logging and endpoint security tooling to provide critical data to security analysts

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2+ years of experience in a management or leadership role
• 5+ years of information security experience pertaining to security operations engineering and infrastructure
• 2+ years experience with a programming or scripting language such as Python or PowerShell

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, information security, computer science, or related field
• Building custom systems that allow for easy analysis of system telemetry in a codified and automated fashion
• Experience in designing and building complex SIEM workflows (preferably with Splunk)
• Directing and coordinating a technical team to develop quick cyber security solutions
• Building scalable and high-performance systems
• Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical staff
• Familiarity with industry organizations and individuals that can be leveraged for knowledge sharing and support

• To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
