We are looking to add a new member to our Accounting Management team. This position would manage an accounting team that is responsible for the employee wage and related expense accounting for most of our international entities. This individual will manage the daily, weekly and monthly processes performed by a team whose members are in multiple geographic regions, ensuring proper allocation of work based on each team member’s level of expertise and capacity. This position will be expected to gain a solid understanding of the technical accounting policies for the financial statement line items in which they are assigned and monitor the changes in the business that may impact those lines. They will be responsible for reviewing the work, schedules, control assessments, and variances produced by their team in accordance with the Preparer / Reviewer standards set by Rackspace. They will also be responsible for providing continuous feedback on employee performance, coaching and mentoring our future leaders, hiring new members to the team and keeping up the overall work health of the team in balance. This position will have exposure to leaders in the CFO Organization and other Operational departments in the company. Area of Focus: Wages and Other Employee Related Costs
Job Responsibilities
- Review journal entries, variance analytics, balance sheet account reconciliations, and internal control requirements.
- Review and sometimes prepare PBC schedules for both internal reporting team and external auditors as well as ad hoc reports requested from Financial Leaders
- Work with and assist Finance and Business Unit teams to provide guidance on the accounting treatment of certain expenditures and purchases.
- Actively review related processes and procedures for standardization and improvement and, when necessary, collaborate with other impacted teams to implement changes.
- Provide support to team to ensure deadlines are met (with high level of accuracy) regarding Monthly close and all related processes, Control Compliance and Reporting/Audit requests. This may involve performance of subordinate’s duties
- Actively evaluate employee performance, work/life balance, and career aspirations to ensure employee stability and satisfaction. Perform annual performance evaluations and recommendations for merit increases and promotions.
- Position requires work beyond a standard 8-hour day during the financial close and other occasions as necessary, potentially including weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment that requires the management of multiple projects at one time.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of accounting processes and required documentation.
- Experience with Excel, Sub-ledger and GL systems, Oracle experience a plus.
- Strong Knowledge of GAAP.
- Ability to mentor and train staff and provide tools to improve their work product
- Excellent time management, decision-making, analytical and organizational skills.
- Effective communicator; enjoys interacting and collaborating with team members and business partners.
- Detail-oriented with an ability to critically analyze financial data and prepare financial reports.
- Resolve complex issues or improve processes in creative and effective ways.
- Accounting or Finance degree required, CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred.
- Requires 8 plus years of related corporate or public accounting experience, 3 of which will be in a leadership position.
- Consistently demonstrates the ability to provide Fanatical Support to internal business partners and direct report
