Job summaryThe Devices and Services (D&amp;S) Security team works to ensure that Amazon’s products and services are designed and implemented to the high standards required to maintain and enhance customer trust. Security and Privacy are paramount to maintaining customer trust. We help build trusted products, maintain and operate trusted environments, and advocate trust to customers and stakeholders. We work closely with Amazon’s Devices and Services teams which design and engineer high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle family of products, Amazon Echo, Fire tablets, Amazon Fire TV, Echo Show, Echo Spot, and more.*The Role:* Do you love to build teams and cultivate talent to continuously raise the bar? Amazon’s Devices &amp; Services Security team is looking for an experienced *software development leader*. ** This is a role for someone who is passionate about creating highly impactful scalable solutions.In this role you ** will grow and manage a team of top notch software engineers who develop solutions that help development teams create and deploy the next generation of devices and software services securely. The SDM and their team of engineers will be responsible for end-to-end build and maintenance ownership for key products. You will have significant influence on overall product strategy. You and your team will be tasked to invent and develop technologies and mechanisms that scale to meet the broad and diverse security needs of Devices &amp; Services teams within Amazon. You will use the latest technology, including AWS, to solve problems at Amazon scale. You will get to passionately simplify and reduce manual effort to help our internal customers raise the security bar. You will work with development teams who need solutions that make it easy to build and operate secure systems. You will work to deeply understand the needs of your customers and relentlessly seek to improve their experience and productivity. You will be taking on a key role in ensuring that Amazon’s products continue to maintain customer trust. You will be asked to find new ways to solve challenging problems every day. Successful candidates for this position will have strong software engineering fundamentals and a good grasp of advanced systems concepts and design. They must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven and deliver high quality results in a fast paced environment. They need to really enjoy innovating to solve global scale problems. Key job responsibilities* As a leader on this team, you will be influencing and driving architectural and design choices and leading the development of world-class security products. * Inventing, developing and maintaining advanced security solutions that developers can use to self-discover and avoid security vulnerabilities and misconfigurations.* Collaborating with product teams to identify systemic security problems &amp; propose new tools that correct identified issues.* Collaborating with product teams and security engineers to create scalable security controls, defenses, and countermeasures to intercept and prevent internal as well as external attacks.* Delivering solutions which enable measuring security effectiveness and quality.* Discovering tools and proposing strategies for integrating them into the development life-cycle for Devices and Services development teams.About the teamWe are a dynamic team which builds highly impactful and scalable security centric applications that help secure hardware, infrastructure and applications supporting more than 140,000 unique devices, 130,000 Alexa skills, millions of happy customers. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.<h3>Basic Qualifications</h3><ul><li>7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams</li><li>Experience partnering with product OR program management teams</li><li>3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers</li><li>3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems</li></ul>* Bachelor degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.<h3>Preferred Qualifications</h3>* Strong business judgment and record of making the right decisions.* 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams.* 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers.* 3+ years of experience designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) new and current systems.* Deep understanding of software engineering best practices.* Expects and requires innovation of her/his team.* Passion for insisting on high standards (to the point that most other people would think they are being unreasonable. * Understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability.* Experience hiring and developing engineers.* Experience simplifying both processes and technical implementations.* Experience delivering large, multi-year projects on time.* Basic knowledge of application/system and network security, authentication/security protocols and cryptography.* Ideal candidates must be innovative, creative, driven, results-oriented, flexible and self-motivated.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
