Security Engineering Manager

Crunchyroll employees are currently working from home, and we are still conducting remote interviews and hiring during this time. This role is expected to start remotely, and we’ll work closely with you as we understand every person has unique circumstances.

About The Team:

A team of high velocity software / devops engineers with a strong devotion to implementing security tooling and processes across the engineering organization. Focusing on security excellence, the security team enables other teams to move quickly through security education, monitoring, support, and tooling. By providing the organization with tooling, engineers can deploy software confidently knowing that both customer data and business assets are protected. With our customer as our #1 priority, the security engineering team finds unique ways to implement security processes and controls while also ensuring our engineering teams can move swiftly to meet market demands.

About You:

• Experience working with in a fast-paced development environment, deploying software to production environments multiple times a day
• Implemented security tooling across engineering organizations with a focus on removing bottlenecks and improving developer velocity
• Strong focus on developing and growing other engineers, fostering leadership and empowering others
• Focused strategic vision for secure engineering and departmental best practices
• Ability to influence others with your ideas, contribute to company-wide methodologies and initiatives
• Experience developing security training and guidance to internal engineering teams
• Experience helping your team members realize their true potential through coaching and feedback and lead with empathy
• You have driven long term security improvements by driving your team to identify key gaps and partner with product teams to drive security improvements at scale
• You excel at recruiting, coaching, and scaling a team of world class security engineers; providing strategic and tactical guidance to the team

Pluses:

• CISSP Certified
• Python / Javascript development experience
• Strong experience with AWS and GCP
• AWS Certified Security - Specialty
• DevOps experience (Applications, Infrastructures, Databases)
• Experience in high-load environments
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

A day in the life of a Security Engineering Manager:

• Work collaboratively with the product management team to understand and prioritize security issues
• Communicate to other technical and business teams the importance and priority of security initiatives
• Translating loose product requirements into technical specifications
• Ensure the team is on track with sprint goals and mitigate risks to ensure goals are reached
• Nurture team members on the latest development security practices
• Having 1:1s to check in with team members to learn of any internal team struggles and/or to build career path opportunities!
• Coordinate incident response and communication for security incidents across the organization in collaboration with posture management team
• Provide domain expertise on architecture, authentication and system security
• Assess security tools and integrate tools as needed
• Assist with hiring and recruiting activities
