Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.We are looking for an experienced Legal Operations leader with a strategic vision for a world-class legal operations team.  Reporting to the General Counsel, you two will partner together to lead change across the Legal team and throughout the company. Operational Management and EfficiencyYou will implement a long-term roadmap to prioritize programs that promote Legal team effectiveness and operational efficiencies. This includes delivering technology and processes that improve spend management, legal vendor management, contract management, litigation, IP portfolios, and knowledge management.  In a nutshell, everything that helps our Legal team build for scale.  You will collaborate with the Chief of Staff to the General Counsel to facilitate and implement the Legal team’s long-term strategic and operational planning process and follow-on actions.  This includes being an important contributor on the General Counsel Team (GCT), delivering a framework for prioritization and making investment trade-offs, and holding regular business reviews with the Legal team's partners.You will collaborate and partner with teams such as our IT, Sales, Finance, Procurement, People, and R&D teams to build upon established partnerships, lead strategic company-wide programs, and collaborate on projects. Financial Management and Data AnalyticsRun Legal like a business! You will use systems to collect and report on relevant data to track and improve what we need to operate effectively.You will responsibly manage the budget for the Legal team and make budget recommendations to the GCT.You will stand-up a world class legal vendor management program to ensure quality outside counsel support at efficient rates and fee arrangements.Technology and Litigation SupportYou will evolve our Legal technology roadmap and collaborate with partner teams to inspire creativity and automation across the Legal team.You will come up with ways to track return on investment on our legal technology investments with an eye towards doing more with each tool we use.You will help to stand-up our litigation support function.  Be an operational partner in areas of e-discovery, legal hold processes, and document review.  Help create and roll-out a document retention policy. Knowledge ManagementYou will manage Legal knowledge by creating a centralized knowledge management repository, and standardize processes, practices, nomenclature, and templates.

On Your First Day We’ll Expect You To Have:

    • 15+ years of legal operations experience, with direct involvement working with the General Counsel or Chief Legal Officer.
    • The ability to chart a strategic direction for Legal Operations.  The ability to tell a compelling story and explain the “why” behind this strategic vision. 
    • Expertise in managing and reporting on Legal team operating expenses, including law firm accruals.
    • A history of collaboration with partner teams and building a culture of ongoing process improvement, operational role modeling and outstanding customer service.
    • Demonstrated proficiency across technology products, including Atlassian’s own products, eBilling, litigation management, knowledge management, and CLMS platforms.
    • Previous success in leading a Legal Operations team, hiring top talent on the market, and developing careers. 
    • Excellent project management skills, with experience managing complex legal operations projects.
    • A process-oriented approach with experience reducing manual work and increasing operational efficiencies.  
    • The ability to focus amidst evolving and maturing environments.
At Atlassian, we tie our base pay ranges to role and level. In the United States, that means your base pay ranges will fall into one of three geographic pay zones depending on your location. Our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:Zone A: $202,500 - $310,500Zone B: $182,200 - $279,500Zone C: $168,000 - $257,800Within each range, base pay is determined based on your depth of experience.
