Engineering Manager, Design System

The team members have diverse backgrounds in software engineering, design, user experience, and content design.We're hiring an Engineering Manager, reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager of the Design System Team. You'll manage a team that creates the React components that we provide as part of the design system, improves accessibility, solves scaling-related problems, and ensures Atlassian frontend developers can do the best jobs of their lives.

What you'll do:

• Partner with engineers, designers and other managers to evolve the Atlassian Design System to provide digital Accessibility at scale
• Use understanding of assistive technology requirements to guide your team's implementation of performant, scalable Accessibility infrastructure
• Lead the integration of Accessibility engineering principles throughout the software development lifecycle
• Lead, inspire and grow a team of remote engineers. With a passion for developing others, you'll coach and inspire your team towards success and cohesion.
• Be a strategic partner with your leadership triad to support setting our goals and strategy.
• Provide trusted engineering leadership direction and guidance for the crucial projects that your team works on across the Atlassian Design System.

Your background:

• 2+ years of experience managing a software engineering team
• Deep subject matter expertise in digital Accessibility on desktop and mobile platforms
• Experience with Assistive Technologies on Windows, Mac and mobile multiple platforms
• Experience implementing Accessibility in UI components, including interoperability with Assistive Technologies
• Experience with Accessibility automation and tooling
• Worked either on or alongside a Design System
• Experience growing the performance of an engineering team
• Experience leading complex projects and collaborating with multiple partners
