Our objective is to make it easy to rely on our privacy &amp; security foundation, features, and assurance so that the constantly evolving regulatory landscape is front and center for our customers - and their customers - that benefit from the ASAPP AI platform and services.We believe great privacy engineering begins with a strong and fundamental grasp of data, modern data flows and the infrastructure used to organize it. This understanding coupled with a translation of evolving privacy regulations into product capabilities and company policy is what this Privacy Engineer role will influence. This role is onsite or hybrid flexible. We have offices in New York City, Northern California, and Bozeman.
<h3>What you'll do</h3>
<ul>
<li>Translate global privacy regulatory requirements (CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) into technical and product specifications, in close partnership with product and engineering stakeholders</li><li>Provide guidance and Data Privacy subject matter expertise to business and technology application owners related to personal data protection decisions, remediation planning, and associated execution activities</li><li>Drive the Privacy Impact Assessment process</li><li>Establish and document data lifecycle management flows and engage in data lifecycle requirements elicitation like data retention and destruction</li><li>Design/architect processes to manage customer and internal data end-2-end (collect, process, store, share, archive, dispose of)</li><li>Support the definition and management of data classification policy and handling standards</li><li>Work with internal teams to design and implement processes and controls in the area of data protection to standardize and scale across the company</li></ul>
<h3>What you'll need</h3>
<ul>
<li>At least ten years of cumulative experience in data protection, technology, or software development with minimum of five years in privacy engineering </li><li>Industry experience working in Technology/software/SaaS companies</li><li>Ability to influence across all levels of the organization</li><li>Experience translating privacy requirements into clear engineering objectives and providing guidance to engineering teams to develop and configure privacy controls </li><li>Experience in partnering with research, engineering, product and security teams throughout the product life cycle to address privacy compliance issues and move compliance beyond the checklist </li><li>Ability to exercise good judgment around the balance of compliance and business needs</li><li>Customer-focused mindset</li><li>Working experience in technical product development or previous experience building privacy controls in technology platforms </li></ul>
<h3>What we'd like to see</h3>
<ul>
<li>CDPSE, CIPT, CIPP certifications are highly preferred</li><li>Privacy SME with previous development/engineering/architecture/technology experience who can clearly communicate privacy expectations with engineering teams and contribute beyond the interpretation of privacy laws and regulations</li><li>Experience with coordinating with Legal to refine regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations and identify operational gaps in order to manage risk with regulatory compliance and contractual compliance</li></ul>

Please note this role is open to candidates outside of Colorado or New York City as well.If you are a Colorado applicant:- The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is $140,000 - 160,000.If you are a NYC applicant:- The estimated pay range for this role, based in NYC, is $155,000 - 180,000.- For Sales positions: this role is eligible to earn commissions and eligible to participate in ASAPP's equity plan.- For Non-Sales positions: this role is eligible to participate in ASAPP's equity plan.The actual salary may be different depending upon non-discriminatory factors such as qualifications, experience, and other factors permitted by law.
