The opportunity:

    • Your new role as a Senior Consultant in the Wellington Advisory team at KPMG will have you strongly connected into engagements and business development with our Sustainable Value, Government and Infrastructure markets.
    • You will support the implementation of our Economic and Social Development Impact proposition, which will improve the firm’s capability to help government deliver improved economic and social outcomes for New Zealanders (see more on Impact here (KPMG IMPACT - KPMG New Zealand (home.kpmg))
    • You will help KPMG to develop and deliver solutions, methodologies and approaches that further support our clients across Government, Māori business and private sector to address critical social, economic and environmental issues of today and tomorrow.
    • This is a tailored role. You will have experience in developing and/or applying economic frameworks to quantify benefits and the impact of interventions, reform and investment, across broad sectors such as Government, Infrastructure and Asset Management, Sustainability, and Social Development. 

Day to day you will:

    • Contribute to the development of KPMG’s applied economics capability, tools and methodology for Government and sector reforms with a strong focus on economic and benefit analysis, benefit monetisation, investment appraisal, social return on investment and similar economic assessment frameworks.
    • Lead or contribute to engagements incorporating economic analysis or assessment, particularly within Better Business Cases, with clients across public, Māori and private sector organisations.
    • Work with Client Service Teams on our managed accounts to determine how best to support them and their clients that have economic advisory needs
    • Focus on business development in the national Aotearoa New Zealand market related to offerings in Economic and Social Development, Sustainable Value and Government and Infrastructure propositions. 

What you'll bring to the team:

    • 8+ years of relevant experience in developing and applying economic assessment frameworks such as cost benefit analysis, advising on investment appraisals, Better Business Cases, direct and indirect benefit monetisation, social and economic investment appraisals, Treasury’s CBAX tool, policy implementation, benefit analysis including carbon pricing, Social Return on Investment and/or similar frameworks.
    • Demonstrable people management and/or leadership experience.
    • Experience in growing and building a consulting service line and/or applied economics capability and/or demonstrated ability in business development will be advantageous.
    • Project planning and delivery skill set, as you'll be tasked with planning and delivering client projects, supported by a team.  You will be playing your part by managing a high performing team of consultants across various client projects.
    • Commitment to developing your cultural capacity in Te Ao Māori as you’ll be expected to work across cross-cultural spaces.
    • Passion for improving social outcomes and reducing inequity for New Zealanders and drive to positively impact the Sustainable Development Goals, increase inclusion and improve people’s lives
