Senior Cloud Engineer (UK)

Using cloud-native approaches based on leading DevOps practices, we help organisations modernize applications and data, build in the leading security solutions and deploy everything on the right cloud infrastructure for maximum effectiveness. We are seeking experienced and proven Cloud Engineers to deliver Cloud Engineering services into Rackspace’s Enterprise and SME clients. The ideal candidate will have strong, hands-on technical skills, with the experience and consulting skills to understand, shape and deliver against our customers’ requirements. On a day to day basis, you will be working on: • Execution of Cloud Engineering tasks within sprint cycles aligned to best practices and templates within a customer project team. • Build out of new customer cloud solutions using cloud native components. • High and low level design work Ideally, you’ll be a Network and Azure Cloud SME, with experience working on complex projects, to deliver automated, secure and robust cloud infrastructure solutions. We are looking for someone who is happy to get involved in all levels of technical discussions, from architecture to hands on coding. A good grounding in infrastructure technology is highly advantageous. You will join a friendly, highly-collaborative team with access to the latest certifications and world-class training schemes!

Skills & Experience

• Proven hands-on experience with Azure and Cisco ACI
• Experience building cloud automation, including CI/CD pipelines using technologies equivalent to Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Docker, Rancher, GIT.
• Network experience, aware of cloud network patterns such as VNET, ExpressRoute, subnets, peering, firewalls, etc...
• Experience of SIEM Administration including the capture and processing of logs and processes.
• Maintains an in-depth knowledge of cloud related technologies, and can articulate best practice approaches and practices
• Experience collaborating with developers and platform engineers, and continuously optimising infrastructure to remove bottlenecks and improve automation.
• Skills in Powershell, Powershell DSC
• Strong communication skills, customer facing experience desirable
• Be available on-call on a rotational basis
• Ideally UK Security Cleared (BPSS)

• Ability to build a strong rapport with customer and internal teams/stakeholder in medium/large organizations.
• Technical achiever with a strong work ethic, creative, collaborative, team player.
• Brief senior leadership and end users at varying levels of familiarity with cloud technologies, about the technology selections, best practices, and benefits.
• Work independently in an agile Kanban environment to complete tasks, report status, identify blockers, and pro-actively resolve issues
• Communicate clearly in written and verbal form with varying audiences of developers, BAs and other stakeholders.
• Ability to present architecture to clients of varying levels, from Developers, Business Analysts and Senior Client Leadership.
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex infrastructure resource and application deployment issues. Including TS distributed systems.
• Self-starter, with an ability to pick up new Cloud technology and scripting technologies.
