The opportunity:
- The role is for an ambitious, innovative professional who will work within our existing team to deploy cost and commercial management capabilities in the delivery of engagements.
- Ideally with a background in Quantity Surveying or Engineering with a good level of experience and understanding of the commercial management of major construction / infrastructure projects.
- Within the Consulting Service-Line the Major Projects Advisory (MPA) team is involved with some of New Zealand’s biggest challenges in infrastructure and public services. We make an impact on things that really do affect the wellbeing and prosperity of everyone in the country. The work is varied, challenging, exciting and complex.
- We are seeking talented individuals that have experience working for major NZ contractors, consulting or client organisations. You will be responsible for helping to grow and deliver our MPA business, working with our leadership team, client organisations and other KPMG teams to develop our offerings and value propositions.
Day to day you will:
- You will be working with colleagues to provide advice and reviews to clients who may be project owners or contractors.
- Our focus is on major infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients in the following sectors: Transport (Roads, Rail and aviation), Government, Housing, Education, Health Infrastructure, Utilities and Defence.
What you'll bring to the team:
- A deep understanding of the issues that impact project performance
- Experience reviewing and advising troubled projects and programmes – with a view to turning them around
- An analytical approach to problem solving
- Capable of articulating effective solutions to project issues based on own knowledge and experience.
- Clear, concise, fact-based report writing and strong presenting skills
- Understanding of standard industry contractual forms
- Preferably achieved or working towards NZIQS / RICS / AIQS professional qualification or similar engineering qualification.
- Experience in some of the following areas would also be of benefit: Procurement, Project Controls and Risk management, Project management, Earned value management, Programme and commercial assurance and Claims, disputes, dispute avoidance
