Financial Accountant

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a desire to learn to join the Financial Reporting team.  Attention to detail and excellent communication / interpersonal skills are essential. You will ensure accurate financial reporting on the performance and position of the company through account reconciliation, variance analysis, application of financial reporting standards and understanding of transactions and movements on accounts. You will play a pivotal role in supporting external auditors across a number of external audits which are conducted through-out the year to ensure financial reporting deadlines are met

Key Accountabilities

    • Prepare assigned Statutory Financial Statements for the legal entities administered from the UK offices to ensure compliance with accounting standards
    • Working closely with external auditors to prepare schedules for company audits and liaise with auditors on reconciliations and analysis performed
    • Prepare and/or review analysis and obtain an understanding of the movements in the income statement and provide commentary for month end reporting purposes.
    • Prepare and/or review account reconciliations to support balances held on the balance sheet
    • Ensure accounts are accurate and comply with accounting standards and reporting requirements.
    • Liaise with managers in the business to ensure that processes and deadlines are clearly understood
    • Implement management accounting policies and procedures
    • Create processes around areas of responsibility to ensure accurate and timely reporting of results
    • Provide ad hoc financial analysis support to the Financial Reporting Manager and business as the need arises
    • Integral role in development, testing, and implementation of improvements on the processes that impact management accounting to ensure adequate controls are in place to meet audit and SOX requirements, efficiency is achieved, productivity is increased, and quality is not compromised
    • Motivate, coach and mentor the junior members of the team to achieve their maximum potential.
    • Critically review GL team accounting processes, such that they are completed with accuracy and within deadlines, allowing sufficient time for review
    • Actively seek out process improvements to reduce the close timetable
    • Develop processes that are scalable to cater for Rackspace growth, including expansion into new countries
    • Other ad hoc duties as identified by the center of excellence management team

Person specification

    • Qualified in either CIMA / ACCA / ACA
    • Experience preparing financial statements
    • Experience in auditing (either as a previous auditor or aiding with external audits)
    • Good organisational and time management skills
    • A highly motivated individual with a desire to learn
    • Experience with Oracle and HFM highly desirable.
    • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
    • The ability to work effectively with people in a high-growth, fast paced environment and drive results
    • Creative and collaborative team player
    • Attention to quality of work
    • Good organisational skills
    • Excel intermediate experience required as a minimum, however advance skills would be preferable
    • Self-starter, motivated to provide the highest possible level of responsiveness and performance as part of a team
