Distribution Engineer

You will perform a key role at DAZN, managing the CDN configurations, CDN load balancing, and contributing to the growth and enhancement of DAZN’s service.We are looking for someone experienced in working with Video Streaming Technologies such as Content Delivery Networks. You will be working with the technical and operational aspects of delivering OTT video content. You will have a strong understanding of media content delivery technology (including origin servers, CDN, and alternative delivery methods) and have a demonstrable track record in managing technology relationships with vendors and clients along with managing internal stakeholders. You should possess excellent influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to see the bigger picture of the live streaming supply chain.    Ideally, in a broadcaster environment, you will have experience in working with the operational, technical, and commercial aspects of delivering OTT video content and an understanding of OTT content delivery systems (including CDN, ASN, ISP, Routing, Multicast).Your teamYou will be part of the Distribution Engineering Team which is directly involved and responsible for DAZN content delivery. As part of the Playback Experience group that looks after the entire playback chain from stadium to screen, the Distribution team leads the strategy, development, implementation, and management of content delivery systems.  This role is based in London. As our new Distribution Engineer you’ll have the opportunity to:

• On-board new CDN’s, ISPs, OTT technologies, and systems.
• Technical and capacity requirements for delivery via CDN through to ISP networks.
• Manage the QoS and QoE performance of CDNs and third-party ISP networks.
• Technical documentation and private caches architecture design.
• Technical troubleshooting with CDN’s and ISP as required.
• Communicate progress internally and work with several teams across the organization.

You’ll be set up for success if you have:

• Excellent with CDN technologies and private caching.
• Experience working on capacity planning.
• Experience working with vendors and customers to deliver technology projects.
• Experience in building and maintaining strategic long-term relationships with 3rd party vendors.
• Experience with video streaming protocols (HLS, DASH, Smooth Streaming).
• Experience with network architecture, PNI, IX, and datacentre.
• Understanding of Internet networks, architectures, DNS, and service providers.
• Experience working on real-time QoS measurement to track and detect issues.
• Experience in creating, updating, and promoting internal documentation, and reports.

Even better if you also have:

• Experience in building and maintaining strategic long-term relationships with ISPs.
• Experience in working in a Multi CDN operation.
• Experience in managing configurations via code, GUI, or third-party relations.
• Experience with origin-shield, super node solutions.
• Experience with Apache traffic server, Nginx, Varnish.
• Experience with cloud services.
• Experience in extracting data from network tools to build traffic matrices.
• Understanding of OTT telemetry technologies.
• Experience working in a fast-paced global broadcast environment.
• Experience with Multicast, Multicast ABR, P2P.
• Experience with dynamic advertising insertion technologies.
• Experience with tools like Terraform/GitHub.
• Experience with testing tools such as curl, dig, and nslookup
