The opportunity:
- Your new role as a Consultant in the Wellington Advisory team at KPMG will see you building and growing our Economic and Social Development Impact practice.
- Located within our Consulting team, you will help KPMG to develop and deliver solutions and approaches that further support our clients across Government, Māori business and private sector to address critical social, economic and environmental issues of today and tomorrow.
- We will draw on your experience in community, social, environmental or economic development to help drive and deliver projects such as organisational transformation, human centred design, integrated thinking and indigenous methodology (e.g. Kaupapa Māori) to help our clients deliver positive impact.
- This is a tailored role, you will need to be a critical and integrated thinker. You will also need to have relevant experience in project planning and delivery gained in a consulting environment or relevant sector experience.
- To be successful in this role you will be strong in navigating cross-cultural spaces, working with Māori frameworks and concepts, high proficiency in Māori cultural competency and at least an intermediate level of Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga.
Day to day you will:
- Deliver, manage and support team members in the successful delivery of business advisory engagements. Including facilitating workshops, conducting analysis to identify issues, forming hypotheses and suggesting solutions, preparing insightful presentations to communicate findings to clients and motivate change.
- Contribute to the development of new service offerings and methodology for Government and sector reforms centred in indigenous and Māori methodology and authentic frameworks of community engagement.
- Support engagement teams in areas of cultural competence across te ao Māori including providing guidance on cultural queries, appropriate use of Te Reo Māori, cultural practice at internal and external events and in other situations.
- Navigate cross-cultural spaces working largely with clients across the public, Māori and private sector organisations.
- Identify and address opportunities to bring integrated thinking and/or indigenous and Māori methodology, social and economic transformation to the fore across the work we do at KPMG.
- Assist with staff supervision, counselling, review and on the job coaching of staff on individual engagements.
What you'll bring to the team:
- Ideally 5+ years of relevant practical consulting or sector experience (experience working in the Māori sector, or serving the Government sector as an employee or as a consultant)
- 2+ years of people management experience
- High proficiency in Māori cultural competency and at least an intermediate level of Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga
- Passion for improving social outcomes and reducing inequity for New Zealanders and drive to positively impact the Sustainable Development Goals, increase inclusion and improve lives.
- Excellent problem solving, project management abilities and workshop design and facilitation.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen and understanding and experience in one or more of the following will be advantageous: Strategy, Operating Model and Organisation Design, System Change, Programme or Service Design, Economics, Design Thinking, People and Change Management, Customer Experience and Project Management.
