Senior Back End Engineer, Team Enterprise

Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.Atlassian is looking for an experienced and talented Senior Software Engineer to join our Cloud Enterprise - FedRAMP team. FedRAMP is one of the largest projects Atlassian has ever tackled and it will impact almost every team and service in the company.As a senior engineer, you will help Atlassian launch a new, dedicated cloud with 600+ services that power Jira and Confluence, understand and secure our platform/infrastructure from every angle, and fundamentally impact our development practices.As part of a large team, you will lead and drive the development of services that provides all engineering teams the ability to consume and track industry standards and regulations and open up Atlassian Enterprise to a whole new market segment.

In this role, you'll get to:

• Contribute to the architecture and roadmap to continuously support compliance requirements for Atlassian
• Regularly tackle the largest and most complex problems on the team, from technical design to launch
• Determine plans of attack on large projects
• Be a champion across the team for continually raising the technical bar and evangelizing a high technical standard
• Lead code reviews & documentation as well as take on complex bug fixes, especially on high-risk problems
• Set the standard for thorough, meaningful code reviews
• Transfer your depth of knowledge and share best engineering practices to improve engineering excellence
• Mentor more junior members

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

• 6+ years of experience building software, with at least 2+ years of experience in crafting and implementing high-performance RESTful micro-services
• Fluency in any modern object-oriented programming language (e.g., Kotlin, Java, Scala, Python, Go, etc.)
• Solid understanding of designing and building distributed systems.
• Broad knowledge and understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS with hands-on experience of one or more public cloud offerings (eg. AWS preferred)
• A real passion for collaboration and has strong interpersonal skills supported by eloquently written communication
• Experience in operational requirements and common challenges of cloud-based systems
• Adept at working with minimal guidance and working with remote teams (peers, or customers)
• Experience working with agile software development methodologies (e.g., XP, scrum)
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

It's great, but not required if you have:

• Experience working with data lakes and query tools like Databricks
