The Storage Architect will be a leader in strategy and innovation for the storage product line. Responsibilities include researching, developing, testing, implementing new or substantially updating existing storage needs to meet ongoing customer growth and demand for the product line. Additionally, the Storage architect will be responsible for designing and implementing complex and unique storage solutions for specific customers, layout and design of storage infrastructure in datacenters. They will also mentor and assist with ongoing training of the engineering team on new technologies and offerings. They will continue to be the escalation point for nonstandard and complex issues our customers and the engineering team encounter. The Storage Architect will be required to manage complex projects and is expected to evaluate cost, benefit and risk of initiatives that are evaluated.. Job Description: · Develops standards and policies for respective technology domain.· Builds a strong rapport with Rackspace Storage Vendors. · Works with vendors to resolve escalated hardware and software issues. Capacity planning and performance analysis of infrastructure. · Designs complex solutions as required and communicates those solutions to customers. · Develops projects to improve performance, efficiency, experience, capacity, etc. of environments.· Develop a strategic plan for ongoing lifecycle management of existing platforms. This plan will ensure the platform is used for its entire useful life as well as have a plan to execute a decommission of the platform at its end of life. · Ensures completeness and compatibility of the technical infrastructure to support system stability and performance. · Keeps well informed of new technology. · Work with product team to design new storage product offerings and advanced features on current offerings. · Design small complexity storage configurations (dedicated and/or shared) based on customer specific needs and deliver message to customer. Skills and Experience: · An excellent understanding of the unique issues related to the building and architecture of multi-tenant storage environments with Dell ECS. · Understanding of the storage architecture (logical and physical) and datacenter implications. · Knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting, testing, and performance tuning in storage platforms. · Ability to contribute to the review, analysis, selection, testing, risk assessment and implementation of new storage technologies. · Ability to develop and document the business case and options for new storage recommendations and offerings including the development and identification of all benefits, risks and basic costs (OPEX and CAPEX). · Experience with Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) is preferred.· Strong technical documentation, written and interpersonal skills. · Strong knowledge in storage technologies and storage best practices. · A strong business acumen is required to make prudent decisions in an ever-changing and complex environment. · Advanced knowledge in storage best practices for VMWare, Hyper-V, SQL, Oracle, Microsoft Exchange and current Windows and Linux operation systems. · Exhibits strong customer service and mentoring characteristics and skills. · Ability to communicate technical info and ideas so others will understand. · Ability to successfully work and promote inclusiveness in small groups. · Ability to provide Rackspace’s FANATICAL Experience. The anticipated starting pay range of Colorado applicants for this role is $88,600 –$114,800.
