Principal Cloud Architect

Acronis is looking for a Principal Cloud Infrastructure Architect able to lead the infrastructure architecture efforts for Acronis’s own private cloud platform delivering a run-time environment for its products. You will be responsible in setting the technology strategy and roadmap for the cloud stack that includes compute, network, and storage virtualization and orchestration, as well as well as an internal Cloud Platform that includes CI/CD automation, monitoring and alert management, log management, telemetry collection and analytics, distributed database services, application messaging services, API gateways, load balancers, and other components required for run-time execution of Acronis product applications. You will own definition of the target state architecture, definition of the priorities and delivery sequencing, technology life cycle management, experimentation and POC development for key technologies.

You will work closely with other Acronis Cloud Infrastructure product team, R&D teams, cloud operations and SRE groups responsible for operational management of the cloud infrastructure, as well as Acronis Sales and Professional Services teams. You will be the mentor for more junior members of the team, as well as the thought leader across various Acronis product and R&D teams.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Be the overall owner of the vision, strategy, and execution of the architecture for Acronis Cloud Infrastructure stack, Cloud Platform, and production environment from initial definition to actual launch and successful delivery and operation.
• Define the deployment and scaling models, as well as production infrastructure architecture, including datacenter site roles, distributed processing role separation, instrumentation, and automation.
• Work closely with Acronis engineering and data center operations teams to ensure successful implementation and deployment of the cloud infrastructure capabilities to support evolving needs of the product engineering teams.
• Attract, lead, and coach a diverse team of cloud infrastructure architects, and actively collaborate with engineering architecture team on future product architecture, design, deployment, and scaling aspects.
• Define and drive discrete components and integrations strategy of a the cloud infrastructure stack across all layers.
• Lead Proof-of-Concept work for new technologies, systems, integrations
• Develop and maintain high-level design documentation, technology roadmap, implementation plans.
• Collaborate with internal business partners to ensure business needs and directions are captured and technology plans are translated into executable roadmaps and release plans, identify and track critical performance metrics and timelines throughout the life of the project.

WHAT YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

• At least Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 10 years of proven experience in a software development and architecture role.
• At least 5 years of experience in Private Cloud technologies and cloud infrastructure.
• At least 5 years of track record of working as part of geographically distributed cross-functional teams (direct reports and stakeholders).
• Experience working cross-functionally on large projects with multiple engineering teams
• Demonstrable knowledge of cloud architectures, application or network security, infrastructure services.
• Proven experience in building PaaS or private cloud platforms including CI/CD automation, monitoring, log management, telemetry, as well as distributed application messaging and database solutions.
• Direct experience with such technologies as OpenStack, VmWare, Kubernetes, MySQL, PostgreSQL, distributed SQL database solutions, REDIS, Kafka, RabbitMQ, NGINX, Elastic, Apache Druid.
• Strong program and project management skills with hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence collaboration tools.
• Excellent communication skills, ability to articulate a compelling vision, and present those in written documents and slide presentations.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platform market, including Google GCP, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure.
• Fluent English
