This position requires an experienced professional with a basic understanding of power electronics, embedded software, and a passion for working on EV’s. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment. 

Role/Responsibilities:

    • Develop controls strategy 
    • Contribute to defining control algorithms for power conversion control for in-house on-board chargers and Energy Storage Eco-System 
    • Simulate the control algorithm and theoretical analysis using PLECS and develop PLECS/Plexim based HILL system 
    • Test, validate, and troubleshoot controller implementation on test bench and final product 
    • Work hands on by testing the logic on high voltage systems 

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with power electronics 
    • Experience with embedded software 
    • Exposure to AC/DC and DC/DC Topology 
    • Understanding of PLECS/Plexim, HILL and High Voltage
    • Experienced with C programming

Nice to have:

    • Experience with power conversion, racing vehicles, or automotive projects  
    • Exposure to software electronic development 
    • Experience with Internships in related fields 

Education:

    • Field(s)of study: Power Electronics or related fields
    • Will consider undergrads Junior level or above: Pursuing Bachelor’s or master's degree 
    • Graduated eligible for this internship up to 12 months after graduation 

Information:

    • Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.  
    • Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs. 
    • Work Location & Environment:   This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in person.  The working environment will be in our lab. 
    • Relocation: One round trip flight to the assigned work location from/to permanent residence.   
    • Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.  
    • Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.  
    • Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.   
    • Medical benefits: Dental and vision on day 1 for all interns working 32+ hours a week; medical for interns in California working 32+ hours a week.
