Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.To help our teams work together you will work in Australian east coast time zones.Your future teamWe are part of the Tenant Platform team which is core to allowing the concept of multi tenancy in our cloud architecture. We provide a platform leveraged by
all of Atlassian's products which enables concepts such as the creation of new tenancy at signup, management of the tenant lifecycle (licence changes, product suspension, deletion, etc), and
data residency.Some of our primary responsibilities include: allowing, and ensuring high reliability of, the creation and management of our customers' tenants, building a self service platform for other internal teams, and working with a variety of product teams to ensure they can achieve their goals.This is a rapidly growing area where you will have significant opportunity to help shape the success of Atlassian's current and growing product suite and overall inspiring company growth goals.You will report to a Senior Engineering Manager, and manage a team of approximately 8 developers.
What you'll do
- Form, hire and grow a new team, and establish its culture, processes, and social connections
- Work with the Product Manager, your devs, and Principal/Architects to guide the roadmap for scaling and evolving for self-service, aligning with other teams in Tenant Platform
- Maintain operational quality for your team's important services - we run services in production!
Your background
- 2+ years management experience in people leading, coaching and running teams
- Success with new team formation and evolution
- Background in backend software development and operating reliable systems in production
- AWS knowledge (SWF, SQS/SNS, Dynamo), or similar experience with other public cloud offerings (e.g. Google, Azure)
- Your team works with Java, but experience is not a prerequisite
- Knowledge of distributed systems concepts, e.g. scaling, consistency and availability tradeoffs
- Familiarity with platform thinking, to focus on usability by our internal customers. Prior experience developing platforms desirable.
