We look after the 10 billion event scale analytics pipeline at Atlassian. This data is used by teams of analysts and decision makers to understand and improve the products, by machine learning systems to personalise experiences, or even to present actionable insights to our customers.We're hiring an Engineering Manager, reporting to the Core Analytics Platform Manager. You are a manager with a background in software engineering with experience managing engineering teams. Here, you will empower the team to achieve their goals, and put those goals into a broader context. Your greatest responsibility will be to look after the individuals reporting to you, coaching and supporting them in their professional development, unlocking their potential, and challenging them to step outside their comfort zone to grow and excel.

What you'll do

    • Hire and grow a team of engineers
    • Define a clear mandate for the team and help them focus on the team's mission
    • Guide technical decisions, innovation, quality, and outcomes
    • Contribute to the technical design and vision for the product
    • Work with leadership and partners to better understand their needs, and collaborate on joint projects
    • Improve the behavioural analytics space at Atlassian, promoting more coverage and standardisation for behavioural data
    • Identify opportunities to improve the experience for our data consumers, ensuring high data quality and surfacing of the most relevant data

Your background

    • Industry experience leading a team of Engineers
    • 3+ years of experience building distributed systems with software development methodologies including Agile, Scrum
    • Experience mentoring engineers and helping others achieve their career goals
    • Fluency in programming languages (e.g. python, C#, Java) for data processing with the ability to review code and provide feedback
    • Knowledge of SQL and ETL processes
    • Experience building data products and services at scale.
    • Well aware of the nuances of secure cloud design across Infrastructure and Data
