Education and Research Sales Consultant - AWS

Rackspace Technology has been awarded the contracted supplier status on the OCRE (Open Cloud for Research & Education) framework run by GEANT for 39 countries across EMEA for AWS. The contract went live in 2021 and the fantastic growth has meant that we need to built out the sales team to service more countries and in turn more languages. The sales role will involve engaging new and existing AWS uses across Education and Research and bringing them into the framework and then expanding the spend by driving new workloads into cloud. The role will involve some travel and can be centered on either London, Amsterdam but we would most certainly expect a large portion to be remote. Key areas for growth include, Sweden and Norway, Spain, France and Italy and of course, Benelux.  A critical success factor will be the close working with the AWS sales teams and the Education community.

Key Responsibilities

    • To drive net new sales and revenue growth across new and existing logos within the Education and Research market for the OCRE Framework contract.  (Commercial framework for Cloud where Rackspace represents AWS)
    • To act as a sales lead for one or more countries within EMEA for the vertical and engage with the wider OCRE sales and sales leadership team to create a cohesive OCRE sales and GTM strategy
    • To foster a close alignment with AWS sellers to drive joint sales engagements and initiatives
    • To work with marketing to drive activities with Rackspace and AWS marketing teams to promote AWS cloud adoption and new business growth
    • To facilitate engagement with technical teams in order to scope and contract Professional Services deliveries (projects)
    • To liaise with internal departments such as legal and pricing in order to finalize and execute contracts
    • To remain abreast of AWS and competitive cloud technologies in order to remain relevant in client conversations
    • To drive annuity services revenues such as support and managed services to new and existing accounts
    • To maintain a high level of customer satisfaction across the client base

Key Requirements

    • The ideal candidate will have 5-15 years sales experience of which the last 3-5 would be in Public Cloud. The candidate should have some experience in more complicated project delivery and will most certainly have recent experience in helping customers move from on premise solutions to public cloud solutions with a strong understanding of the changes from Capex to Opex.
    • The candidate must be able to genuinely lead a sales cycle from start to finish engaging all internal and external stakeholders.
    • The candidate must have an ability to present cloud concepts and be willing to undertake basic accreditations such as AWS Cloud Practitioner.
    • Industry market knowledge in Education and Research will be an advantage but not essential as this can be taught.
    • The candidate must be fluent in English and one other main European language would be advantageous
