JOB TITLE:Windows System Engineer IFUNCTION:  Technical Support                                   REPORTS INTO:  GDCI                                                                         JOB DESCRIPTION:The Implementation Engineer (IE) is expected to provide a high-level of and Fanatical Technical Support and professional care in-person, over the phone, and in support tickets to new Rackspace Customers.  The IE is responsible for vetting contracts, validating supportability, and technical accuracy of pre-implementation sales proposals and closed won solutions. In addition, the IE delivers accurate hosting solutions on schedule that meet the requirements provided by our acquisition solution engineers. Provides training, documentation, and mentoring to Support Teams regarding the implementation process.  Ensures accuracy of information documented for the Rackspace DC and functional Teams to deploy via the Master Ticket tool. Expectedtouseinitiativeandadviseon potentialpitfallsthat a customermayexperience,usingexistingorplannedmethods,andsuggestalternativesthatmaybetterservethestabilityandsecurityofthecustomer’ssolution.  The IE determines and sets supportability expectations and maintains high NPS for all new customer deployments. You will also be expected to provide advice on best practices or potential pitfalls that you identify, and suggest alternatives that may better serve the stability, security, and performance of the customer’s solution.    JOB REQUIREMENTS:Knowledge/Skills/Abilities·        Ability to provide technical implementation support ·        Create great first impression Fanatical Support experience by serving customers and setting the correct expectation·        Exercise good judgment in decision making during Sales to Support transition to deliver FANATICAL results·        Microsoft Windows Server Knowledge (All Versions)·        Ability to configure and troubleshootingoftheWindowsOS, IIS, FTP, SQL, andotherapplications·        Exercisesjudgmentindecision-makingtoroutinelydeliverFANATICAL customersupport·        Knowledge (Hardware, Software, DNS, RAID, VMWare, PowerShell, and firmware upgrade)·        Knowledge of Active directory configuration, FSMO Roles·        Knowledge of ILO/IDRAC Management and Physical servers·        Understands Networking, Firewalls, Load Balancers, VPN, and SSL technologies·        Windows Cluster Builds (File and SQL, Active/Active and Active/Passive)·        MSSQL Installation/Configuration ·        Knowledge with storage solutions (NAS, SAN, DAS)·        Best practices related to authentication, auditing, and access monitoring                      ·        Familiarity with systems management concepts, processes/standards (e.g., SNMP), capacity/performance management, and tuning / network management·        Ability to listen to differing technical opinions·        Exercisesjudgmentindecision-makingtoroutinelydeliverFANATICAL customersupport/New hires·        Ability to persuade, if necessary, when differing technical opinions arise·        Able to create technical documentation·        Creative and collaborative team player and possess high accountability ·        Ability to respond effectively under pressure·        Ability to work flexible hours·       Abilitytohandlemultipletasksandprioritizeworktomaintainrequiredproductivitylevels ·       Problem-solvingabilities,coupledwith a desiretotakeon responsibility·       Possesses advanced writtenandverbalcommunication skills·        Ability to lead the IE team in the absence of an immediate frontline manager·       Excellentproblem-solvingabilities,coupledwith a desiretotakeon responsibility  EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:   ·  Highschooldiploma orequivalentrequired. MCSAorMCSEcertification preferred·       Requires 3-4years’ experienceinsystemsadministration orrelatedfield·       Bachelor’sdegreeinComputerScience, engineeringrelatedfield,orequivalent workexperience, preferred  Physical Demands:·        General office environment. May require long periods sitting and viewing a computer monitor. Moderate levels of stress may occur at times.
