Amazon Web Services (AWS) business continues to rapidly expand and The AWS Networking Security Organization is looking for an experienced and highly self-motivated Software Development Manager (SDM) who possess a unique balance of technical skills, engineering management, and the ability to drive and own security outcomes across a large organization. As a SDM, you will be focused on implementing and driving major changes on Identity in AWS Networking. Your team will consist of Engineering talent solving some of the hardest Identity problems at scale. You will also be excellent at driving results, being able to build solutions for large, multi-functional projects on-time, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs. You will be responsible for defining technical design and building world-class software that pushes boundaries. You will work across multiple teams within AWS Networking to build and onboard new solutions that raise the bar on Network security for your customers. You will grow your development team to tackle complex problems in massively scaled networks and be prepared to scale your teams for future challenges. Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
  • Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
  • 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
  • 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Several years experience in a security engineering management role or a senior engineering team lead role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
  • Experience hiring and attracting talented Engineers
  • Have proven track record in leading architecture, design, development and operations of enterprise scale delivery platforms, products and services in a high performance and high-availability SaaS or cloud environment
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • A solid understanding of Linux Operating System
  • Experience in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
  • Experience with authentication and authorization approaches.
  • Experience in mentoring software engineers to improve their skills and efficiency.
  • Meets/Exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/Exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
