If this sparks your interest, apply today and chat with our friendly Recruitment team further. Are you passionate about building elegant systems with modern big data technologies?We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Analytics Platform Engineering Team and build world-class data solutions to power Atlassian products and also develop internal systems to help Atlassians make crucial business decisions throughout the organization.On a typical day, you will work with other software engineers and architects by sparring ideas, pair programming, peer-reviewing, and at the same time deliver your own work with a strong focus on quality and timeliness. At times, you may be required to work closely with Atlassians from legal, marketing, product management, designers, support, and so on. You will have a direct positive impact on users of Atlassian products. Your innovation, leadership, craft, and timely deliveries will ensure that new products and features are delivered with top-notch quality and reliability. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and you are able to take vague requirements and transform them into solid solutions. You are motivated by solving ambitious problems, where creativity is as crucial as your ability to write code.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

• Proficiency in any modern object-oriented programming language - some combination of Kotlin (preferred), Scala, Python, Java, Node.js, Go
• Expertise in handling complex problems in a distributed and big data environment
• Experience building service from the ground up – from gathering requirements, design, build, deploy, and ownership.
• Ability to lead a project from the beginning until completion
• A passion for mentoring and sharing knowledge with other developers
• Familiarity with cloud architecture patterns and an engineering discipline to produce software with quality, performance, scalability, reliability, high availability, and operational excellence.
• Strong knowledge working on Amazon Web Services (in particular using S3, SQS, Kinesis, Glue, and the like)
• Strong knowledge in modern big data query engines (Spark) and storage (parquet, Delta).
• Be a strong advocate of writing clean code and tests
• Be an effective collaborator with other engineers to come up with solutions
