If so, let's talk!Your future teamWe are looking for a Senior Public Policy Manager to join our growing Global Policy and Regulatory Affairs function, within the Legal team in EMEA. We are seeking an experienced public policy, public affairs, and government relations professional with a strong understanding of regulatory and policy processes of the EU. The right candidate will monitor legislative and regulatory developments within the EU and key Member States, build relationships with and regulators and develop an engagement strategy in support of our public policy and regulatory affairs goals.

What you'll do

    • Build out Atlassian's approach to engagement with EU policymakers.
    • Develop a keen understanding of Atlassian's diverse products and translate those products to policymakers.
    • Monitor key developments in a broad range of policy areas (tech, sustainability, workforce, skills) across the EU and key Member States.
    • Support, alongside the other members of the Global Policy and Regulatory Affairs team, the development of our European public policy engagement strategy (as part of a global strategy).
    • Work with the Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs team to ensure our engagement is effective and substantive through detailed analysis and careful consideration of emerging regulatory and legislative proposals.
    • Develop close working relationships with teams across Atlassian that have a strong interest in emerging regulatory and policy proposals including sustainability, compliance and risk, privacy and security.
    • Advise senior leaders of the implications of emerging technology policy and regulatory proposals.
    • Lead the development of responses to government and legislative consultation processes in areas including but not limited to cybersecurity, privacy, antitrust/competition, law enforcement access, technology workforce, flexible work arrangements, diversity and inclusion, sustainability and tax.
    • You will be expected to travel to Brussels and other European capitals with some regularity.

Your background

    • Minimum 6+ years of public policy and/or government affairs experience, 8+ years preferred.
    • Proven experience as an advocate in Brussels and the ability to conceive and execute policy campaigns.
    • A strong background in EU institutions and policy.
    • The ability to articulate complex regulatory and policy matters into easily understood language.
    • A history of successful collaboration with cross-functional teams.
    • The power to drive strategic and tactical objectives, and the aptitude to shift between both on the fly.
    • The ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.
    • Ability to handle contending priorities in a dynamic environment.
    • A self-starting approach to work, high integrity, humility, a healthy sense of humour, and a how-can-I-help, get-it-done demeanour.
    • The willingness to work across timezones: you'll have colleagues all over the world, and the job will require a moderately flexible schedule allowing for some calls in the evenings.
    • Business fluency in English required, additional languages are preferred.
    • Strong familiarity with emerging technology public policy trends in the areas of cybersecurity, online safety, privacy, competition, and tech workforce.
    • An extensive professional network across government and industry.
    • Experience in drafting responses to policy and legislative processes.
    • The ability to work with other industry representatives to build coalitions either through formal industry/trade associations or more informal collaboration.
    • A working understanding of dynamics within the European Union and the operation of the European Commission, including experience within an EU institution.
