If this sparks your interest, apply today and chat with our friendly Recruitment team.Your future teamThe Open Toolchain organisation comprises multiple families of teams responsible for all the full end-to-end execution of Atlassian's Open DevOps strategy and expansion into new areas beyond just DevOps. As the senior architect for this organisation, you will report to the Head of Engineering for Open DevOps and partner with people leaders and peers in Product & Design to plan, scope, estimate, and support delivery of projects aimed at providing a connected experience within Atlassian's products for customers with diverse toolchains, leveraging data and insights to improve teams' effectiveness and foster stronger collaboration.You have defined the long-term technical vision, architecture, and delivery strategy for software engineering organisations of 50+ engineers in the cloud software space. You have navigated complex dependencies and worked across organisational boundaries to achieve business goals. You'll benefit from technical skills in the cloud-native space, with experience operating at scale across a diverse set of technologies.

What you'll do

• Mentor other architects and help them define technical direction for their respective work streams
• Partner with engineering leaders from other internal and external teams to collaborate on shared goals
• Define technical vision and drive shared understanding with engineering teams
• Contribute to strategy and roadmap decisions as the engineering representative for your organisation
• Meet with customers to better understand their needs and ensure Atlassian's tools provide value to them

Your background

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with history shipping both consumer products and cloud services
• 5+ years of experience mentoring other engineers, working on technical plans and defining architecture
• 3+ years of experience as the most senior architect within an engineering organisation
• Bachelor or higher degree, or its equivalent, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems Management or a related field of study
