Do you have a background of systems administration, cloud or migration that helps you lead a team of engineers effectively whilst acting as a technical mentor or escalation point? Rackspace’s rapidly growing Fanatical Support for Cloud team is looking to hire an engineering manager with a background in Cloud and the migration of applications/data. Technical teams at Rackspace thrive with strong leadership and mentoring from their manager, and so we’re looking for a candidate that can craft and grow their direct team whilst ensuring tight alignment to the organizations overall strategy. Migration into the cloud is one of the most important steps in any cloud journey, and will set the tone for a customer’s relationship with Rackspace. As the manager of this team, customer experience will be directly within your remit so customer obsession and a focus on results are critical. A successful candidate will have a relatively recent background in systems administration and traditional hosting technologies (e.g. server virtualization, dedicated hosting);recent background in working on or with AWS or cloud based solutions; experience working with remote teams across timezones, and collaboratively creating / improving standard operating procedures and runbooks is key.RESPONSIBILITIES:  ·       Oversee and maintain the high bar for quality in all migrations and projects executed by the team·       Manage, mentor and develop a team of passionate Cloud and DevOps engineers during their day-to-day roles·       Maintain a high level of engagement within the team, ensuring growth and Racker satisfaction in their contribution to the company mission is recognised·       Work with leadership to communicate overall team status, effectiveness and readiness·       Contribute to the overall leadership and strategy for the group·       Work with Engagement/Project Managers to provide timely status updates on project/engagement·       Multi-task in an environment of changing priorities·       Work within and above Agile teams·       Continually expand knowledge in the areas of new technological developments and trendsREQUIRED BEHAVIORS/SKILLS:  ·       Excellent written and verbal communications skills·       Proven experience building and managing a new team of engineers / technology professionals·       Ability to work with remote / distributed organizations·       Ability to collaborate with peers and present data clearly and concisely ·       High level of comfort communicating across internal and external stakeholders·       Solid problem-solving abilities coupled with a bias for action·       Experience working with a range of customers (SMB, MM and Enterprise)·       Demonstrated, strong analysis capabilities and logical data driven decision making·       Prior experience in OS, networking and cloud architecture fundamentals·       Prior knowledge for migrating OS workloads to Public Cloud·       Understanding of migration concepts and mechanisms (e.g. The 6 R’s; synchronization mechanisms - block, image, file; sequencing and application grouping; landing zone/blueprintsDESIRABLE BEHAVIORS/SKILLS:·       Bi-lingual skills a plus, must be fluent in English·       General knowledge of areas of business operations beyond IT·       Professional Services consulting/engineering experience·       Working knowledge or exposure to Agile teamsEXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:  ·       Requires a high school diploma/GED or equivalent·       12-20 years in progressively more technical roles in support or IT professional services.·       Minimum 2-3 years managing distributed, technical teams·       Minimum 3 years’ experience working explicitly in or with cloud technologies·       Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred About Rackspace TechnologyWe are the multicloud solutions experts.
