Head of Engineering - Developer Excellence, Ecosystem

Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.We're looking for an experienced Head of Engineering to lead a group of teams in our growing Ecosystem organisation. Your teams will be responsible for building platforms and tools for third-party developers to extend Atlassian products and build successful businesses on the Atlassian Marketplace, using the combined awesomeness of 90+ engineers and engineering managers. You'll also use your analytical skills to make sure we're solving the right problems, partnering with technical, design and product leaders to influence the direction and plan the steps to get there.You're a leader of leaders, coaching engineering managers and architects that report to you, supporting them in their professional development to unlock their potential, and encouraging them to step outside their comfort zone to grow and excel. You'll also play a critical role in the org's leadership team, working with other engineering managers, architects, product managers and program managers to steer the organisation by contributing to the strategy and helping determine the right problems for the teams to invest in solving.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

    • Experience managing a large (80+ people) engineering organisation
    • A passion for driving cultural change in technical excellence, quality and efficiency
    • Experience supporting teams in driving large projects with complex dependencies and multiple stakeholders
    • A drive for operational excellence and experience with teams responsible for running mission-critical production services
    • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies

It's preferred if you have:

    • Experience influencing teams outside your own organisation with data and insights
    • A demonstrated ability to foster an innovation culture in your teams
    • Experience with large scale distributed systems and microservices
    • Experience balancing Ops and Development investment
