Operating as the first impression for Optiv clients in many cases, Engineers deliver both the Authorized Support and Device Management service lines and directly assist Optiv clients with their network and/or security issues and needs. These two service lines are often part of a much larger client-focused services agenda. Therefore, this position plays a part in helping to keep overall Optiv/client relationships successful. The Engineer position at Optiv Security Operations Department provides frontline maintenance, remote support, appliance management and health monitoring to customers in a 24x7x365 TAC (Technical Assistance Center) environment.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Respond in a timely manner (within documented SLA) to configuration, maintenance, incident management, and other requests.
- Provide support for integration and onboarding activities to ensure smooth client transition to MSS operations.
- Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems, using strong TCP/IP networking skills.
- Create/maintain/update internal documentation. Explain technical solutions to the client and walk them through configurations of their devices Learn more complex setups from senior security engineers.
- Adhere to established MSS policies, procedures, and security practices. Perform on-call support for operational clients concerning connectivity and access.
- Resolve problems independently and understand escalation procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for Success
- College Degree in Information Technology, Information Security/Assurance, Engineering or related field of study.
- 2 or more years of experience in Information Security required.
- Experienced with one of more of the firewall technologies: CheckPoint, Cisco, ForcePoint, Fortinet
- One or more of the following certifications is preferred: CCNA/CCNP, CCSA/CCSE
- Fundamental knowledge and exposure to TCP/IP networking
- Entry-level desktop/networking experience, application software experience, with exposure to Microsoft and UNIX/Linux based operating systems
- Requires taking responsibility for customer satisfaction and overall success of managed services.
- Technical knowledge with industry security products preferred.
- Customer service focus required with strong interpersonal skills including excellent written/verbal communication skills.
- Will be required to be on-call after hours and weekends on a rotating basis.
- May be required to work occasional off-shift hours to cover customer maintenance and on-site activities.
- Previous IT help desk experience preferred
Must Have:- Eligibility to obtain Government of Canada Security Clearance
- Shift flexibility, including the ability to provide on call support when needed
- Demonstrated experience and success in a Managed Service client environment
- Ability to work greater than 40 hours per week as needed
- Ability to travel up to 10 percent of the time
