As part of this journey we’re moving all our cloud customers to a new billing system that has been developed in-house. This journey is key to the success of Atlassian going forward and will involve working with stakeholders in all areas of the company. You’ll be working with both the current and future billing systems and supporting systems that form the backbone of the way that our customers interact with the administration of the Atlassian products that they use. You're expected to be a pro-active and self-motivated engineer that likes to drive initiatives that span across teams and organisational  boundaries. You write code that's easy to read and maintain. You see technology as a tool to solve problems and not as a means to it itself. You like to work collaboratively and believe in a team first culture.You’re also expected to work with developers and stakeholders in multiple timezones, predominantly in India and Australia, but also at times in Europe and the US. You will work with a group of talented engineers at varying job levels, from new college grads to seasoned senior engineers and architects. Tenant Platform is core to allowing the concept of multi tenancy in our cloud architecture. We provide a platform used by all of Atlassian's products which enables concepts such as the creation of new tenancy at signup, management of the tenant lifecycle (licence changes, product suspension, deletion, etc), and data residency.We're hiring a Senior Engineer reporting to Engineering Manager, Tenant Platform. You'll join a brand new team in India, whose mission will be to build the next generation of our internal tenant management and operations platform we call Governator. The platform is an internal tenant operations hub critical to to internal service delivery, Engineering and SRE teams.This is a rapidly growing area where you will have opportunity to help shape the success of Atlassian's current and growing product suite and overall inspiring company growth goals.We'd love you to bring new ideas to our engineering culture, and besides our awesome group of collaborating teams in Tenant Platform, you'll get to work with a huge variety of other teams across Atlassian, as our services have a lot of internal customers!

What you'll do

    • Assist in breaking down the work, building and shipping new features technical leader within your team.
    • Review code with best practices of readability, testing patterns, documentation, reliability, security, and performance considerations in mind
    • Demonstrate excellence in operational excellence, helping the team deliver on reliability, scalability, and latency goals.
    • Participating in Agile software development including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, team retrospectives, show and tell demo sessions

On your first day, we'll expect you to have/be:

    • 5+ years of software development experience
    • Experience with Java or Kotlin and Spring Framework
    • Understanding of micro-services oriented architecture and REST APIs
    • Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS industry with hands-on experience with public or private cloud offerings (AWS, GCP, Azure, other)
    • Fluency in any one database technology (e.g. RDBMS like Oracle or Postgres or NoSQL like DynamoDB or Cassandra)
    • Knowledge to evaluate trade-offs between correctness, robustness, performance, space and time
    • Experience in taking ownership of features, while working with a team on short and long-running projects
    • Experience with version control systems eg Git or SVN
