Principal Backend Engineer - Developer Experience team

You will be an important member of our passionate and growing team focused on delivering incredible, creative improvements for our engineering teams. Our team creates shared components and tooling that improve the lives of, and experiences for, Atlassian's engineers and their development workflow.What you'll do- Define and drive the teams overall strategic vision and architecture- Lead our technical approach to shared components and tools that improve the lives of Atlassian's engineers by making service development easier and more efficient- Collaborate with other developers across departments - your customers - to make tools and systems that are a delight to use and that multiply the potential of those around you- Drive our Developer Experience teams towards creative solutions that unlock the potential of Atlassian's developers- Lead Developer Productivity programs of work across our organisationYour Background- 8+ years of software development experience- Excellent knowledge in developing and maintaining web applications- Deep architectural understanding of web applications- Experience in development practices, improving developer velocity and solving common problems through better user experiences- A mindset for innovation and taking calculated risks- Experience leading large-scale transformation projects and implementations- Experience with designing and developing digital solutions architectures that support business requirements- Knowledge of existing, new, and emerging technologies and being able to apply them to new business initiativesIf you've got some of these skills, even better:- Experience in Developer Experience or Developer Productivity- Proficiency in Java or NodeJS- Experience in at least one additional language- Experience in CI (Continuous Integration) and CD (Continuous Deployment)Our perks & benefitsTo support you at work and play, our perks and benefits include ample time off, an annual education budget, paid volunteer days, and so much more.About AtlassianThe world’s best teams work better together with Atlassian. From medicine and space travel, to disaster response and pizza deliveries, Atlassian software products help teams all over the planet.
