Full Stack Automation Engineer II

An Automation Engineer is a key element within the Rackspace support infrastructure and is expected to provide a high level of technical support to our customers. Owns complex automations that enable Rackspace to better serve our customers. Applies creative problem-solving techniques to identify the source of problems; while at the same time keeping the customer aware of every step along the way. An Automation Engineer is expected to use initiative and standard programming practices to ensure the stability and security of Rackspace’s automated solutions.Key Responsibilities• Provide FANATICAL support.• Defines, designs and implements automated solutions.• Formulates new and alternate ideas, approaches, and designs to evolve existing feature sets or to solve problems encountered in existing feature sets.• Influences functionalities that make broad contribution to company-wide product and service offerings while actively seeking and incorporating feedback from peers and customers.• Continually expands knowledge in the areas of new developments and trends; may make recommendations on desirable additions and developments.• Due to the 24x7 operations of the business, must be able to work a flexible work schedule, may include nights, weekends, holidays, etc.• Help create documentation and training  Knowledge• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience in related fields.• Extensive knowledge of one or more programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, JavaScript• Source control such as GitHub • Extensive knowledge of server administration Windows and/or Linux.• Working knowledge of TCP/IP and associated web services, such as DNS from both the client and server perspective.• Must be detailed in documenting information and practice good follow through techniques.• Excellent problem solving abilities, coupled with a desire to take on responsibility and extreme attention to detail during design and implementation.• Understanding of Business Process Automation.Nice to haves:• Experience on transformation projects and successful transitions to implementation and support teams.• Experience with virtualization and administration.• Proven track record of building deep technical relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.• Service Now • Run Book Automation• Robotic Process Automation• Experience in database administration, such as Oracle/SQL/MySQL is a plus.  Skills• Ability to create moderately complex code solutions• Resolves complex issues and contributes to complex technical design and build activities.• Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills; bi-lingual skills is a plus.
