About the roleYou will manage a group of talented engineers at varying job levels, from new college grads to seasoned senior engineers. You will be responsible for their day-to-day work as well as mentoring them as they climb up their career ladders. You will also help shape the future of Atlassian ITSM by working with your counterparts in product management and design, to make Atlassian ITSM an ideal choice for enterprises.If you want the fast-paced environment of a startup, in a well-funded mid-size company, and are eager to have a multiplier effect on a team of engineers, then this is your dream job!
On your first day, we'll expect you to have
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Industry experience working as a hands-on engineering manager, managing a team of engineers
- Fluency in Java (or other object-oriented programming languages)
- At least 5 years of industry experience as a backend or full-stack engineer and 3 years of management experience
- Experience building distributed systems for a SaaS product
- Familiarity with industry-standard monitoring systems (e.g.: Splunk, DataDog, New Relic, etc.)
- Comfortable in being on-call 24x7 and driving a culture of continuous improvement from the ashes of incidents
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Passionate about mentoring engineers and helping others achieve their career goals
- Partnering with product managers, designers and analysts to shape the course of a product
- Evolve our long-term roadmap of projects
Must have skills
- Lead a team of Software Engineers and Data Engineers
- Be both a technical leader and people manager responsible for guiding your team to make solid technical decisions
- Design solutions to complex and ambiguous software and data challenges, starting from first principles
- Define the tech stack & operational strategies
- Experiment and explore new technologies to create innovative solutions
- Apply engineering best practices in terms of quality, security, scalability and maintainability
- Knowledge of data pipeline design, analytics
- Experience in building data products and services at scale.
- Experience in handling data from acquisition to usage in models
- Experience with querying and data visualization tools
- Well-versed in modern software development practices (Agile, TDD, CICD) and how they can apply to software and data engineering
- Knowledge of SQL and ETL processes
It's great, but not required if you have:- Work with AWS technologies such as EMR, S3, Glue, Lambda, SQS, and more
- Experience ElasticSearch, Spark, MongoDB and DynamoDB
- Experience with AI/ML
- Understanding of ITSM domain
