Atlassian’s Ecosystem organisation is currently developing Forge: a next-generation cloud development platform for Atlassian’s Ecosystem. Forge enables third-party developers to  craft, deploy and run apps in the Atlassian Cloud; and sell them on Atlassian's thriving app Marketplace. We don’t use the term “next-generation” lightly: the Forge platform seeks to abstract away the complexities of app development to delight developers and provide an industry-leading level of data privacy and security for Atlassian’s customers.Discover is a specific team within Ecosystem which owns developer.atlassian.com and are responsible for connecting developers with the content they need to unleash innovation. Discover serves Marketplace Partners building apps for sale on the Atlassian Marketplace, in-house developers customising their Atlassian tools, and thousands of internal Atlassian engineers seeking to understand the capabilities of Atlassian’s broad suite of platform services.You will be responsible for providing technical leadership to the product engineering team behind our developer portal. You will apply your inquisitive approach in a collaborative manner no matter the task, solving complex problems whether they touch the customer or simply compliment the work of your team. You will also be required to deeply understand technology landscapes, and evaluate the use of new technologies. You will be influential within your team and work with peers and senior leaders to define and revise the standards for operational excellence across Atlassian. You will consistently tackle abstract issues that span multiple functional areas and drive your team to push for improvements that can scale across other teams, services, and platforms.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

• 8+ years of experience designing and building a production-level large scale web application.
• Solid foundation in software design, object-oriented programming, data structures and algorithms
• Proven understanding of micro-services oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs
• Experience in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and/or Node.js
• Strong knowledge of Test Driven Development, Refactoring, Clean Code, Clean Architecture, Design Patterns, etc.
• Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS industry with hands-on experience with public cloud offerings (e.g., AWS, GAE, Azure)
• Real passion for learning from and mentoring your peers to evolve the engineering craft within your team
• Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (with proficient English)
It's great, but not required, if you have:
• Experience designing, building, and operating large systems with scalability, availability, testing and performance requirements
• Experience with GraphQL
• A passion for applying DevOps concepts (CI/CD, etc.) to improve the delivery process of software
• Familiarity with AWS Services (DynamoDB, SQS, EC2, SNS, etc.)
