We see a profound opportunity for data to improve the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of operations, and hope you consider joining us on this exciting journey.

About the role

This will be our first Security hire outside of the US. As the Security lead for our European operation, you’ll have a broad remit to build top-tier capabilities within a prestigious US decacorn operating internationally.

You will proactively identify and mitigate risks, respond to and manage security incidents, and protect Samsara’s infrastructure and operations. We have considerable plans in the future for high-level security architecture that this role will own, including:

  • Vulnerability Management + Mitigation
  • Incident Response
  • Containerized dependency management + compliance
  • Monitoring + Alerting/SIEM
  • IAM/Access Control/Least Privilege

You’ll take Security seriously, and strive to build low friction solutions developed in close partnership with others. On a typical day, you might meet with a vendor to scope an upcoming implementation of a new endpoint security tool, spend time refining our logging and alerting system to provide better insights, or take part in incident response as the primary security point of contact.

Above all, your focus is on bringing Security expertise to the table in a collaborative, humble, and practical manner.

You should apply if:

  • You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your efforts will result in real-world impact—helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely.
  • You are the architect of your own career: If you put in the work, this role won’t be your last at Samsara. We set up our employees for success and have built a culture that encourages rapid career development, countless opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a hyper growth environment.
  • You’re energized by our opportunity: The vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative, ambitious ideas for our customers.
  • You want to be with the best: At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together and support each other. You will be surrounded by a high-caliber team that will encourage you to do your best.

  • Proactively own the systems within your domain and lead incident response exercises when signals point to potential vulnerabilities or compromises.
  • Work with other teams across the organization to implement controls that align to Samsara’s compliance and internal security policies.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Broad exposure to various security approaches, frameworks, and tooling, with a deep understanding of core security concepts around endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Significant experience working in security operations within the technology sector.
  • Ability to work with business systems teams to collaboratively implement security controls across a diverse range of systems, such as Okta, Netsuite, Salesforce, and Google Workspaces.

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Specific experience with building logging and alerting systems that proactively help teams identify and mitigate potential security threats.
  • Experience working with legal and risk & compliance teams to implement NIST CSF or similar frameworks.
