Role SpecificsWe are seeking an industry recognised technical leader to join the
Data Portability team in Bangalore as a
Sr. Principal Engineer. In this role, you will be a technical visionary and a hands on engineer for products & solutions that are revolutionising the software industry and helping teams collaborate and craft that magic in delivering their best work. The primary focus of your role will be to drive the broad technical strategy of our products and solution architecture & implementation, over a 12-24 month horizon for Data Portability programs within Atlassian. You will be a proven thought leader with the ability to translate loosely defined, yet critical ideas into a well-defined architectural vision that can be aligned with the technical and product leaders across Atlassian. You will raise the bar, though example, on the quality of software construction in a fast-paced, agile environment. You will use your deep technical skills to build the Data Portability landscape and mentor other developers, product managers, and senior managers, ensuring the team understands the vision, and help realise that vision. As a seasoned technologist, you’re expected to be comfortable with data management space in the cloud and will lead the architecture for data portability. You’ll partner very closely with the Head of Engineering and provide guidance to the team to define and nurture our engineering culture for the site.You will also be required to deeply understand technology landscapes, and evaluate the use of new technologies, and effective review and communicate as required. You will be influential within your team and work with peers and senior leaders to define and revise the standards for operational excellence across Atlassian. On your first day we’ll expect you to have:
- At least 15 years of experience in a variety of hands-on software / technology roles, preferably in Enterprise Products & Solutions in the cloud.
- Hands on engineer with cloud native skills, being comfortable with one of cloud stack, preferably AWS.
- At least 6 years of architecting, driving and implementing multiple features of a SaaS product at a high scale, performance and reliability of at least 4 nines.
- Deep understanding & proven experience of the various dimensions of building and delivering multi-tenanted cloud-native SaaS software
- Well-versed in challenges of distributed systems, modern cloud-native architectures, distributed data management in a cloud environment and front-end applications.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication in pursuit of driving the mission forward.
- Influencing skills in balancing short and long term objectives including technical and business outcomes.
- Significant experience in building broadly adopted cloud platforms.
Experience in the following is preferred:
- Experience in scaling architectures related to large volumes of data, in the cloud
- Deep understanding & proven experience of working on security and compliance related features in public cloud
- Influencing business leaders and teams across cross geographical locations.
