Linux Operations Engineer III

Responsible for implementation of architectural design of hardware, software and networking systems. Ensures completeness and compatibility of the technical infrastructure to support system performance. Follows and executes according to Rackspace change management.

Job Complexity

• Automate regular tasks to streamline system maintenance.
• Develop optimizations for system performance and future scalability.
• Diagnose and fix complex server and system wide issues.
• Participate in root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with other engineers, testers and software developers to ensure smooth rollouts, continual operation and fanatical support of quality software.
• Handle support ticket escalations for issues requiring production systems access.
• Perform periodic on-call duties as part of a DevOps team.

Experience/Education

• Requires a minimum of 5+ years of administration experience in a Linux/Unix environment.
• Professional experience in Linux system administration and configuration.
• Experience installing, configuring and securing RHEL, CentOS, or derivative.
• Familiarity with Internet email protocols (POP, IMAP, SMTP) and email architecture.
• Experience with basic administration of F5 load balancers.
• Experience working with a large-scale system (1000+servers).
• Experience with relational databases (preferably MySQL).
• Experience with monitoring tools like Nimbus, Zabbix, Grafana, etc.
