Lead Frontend Engineer - Marketplace Platform

About the RoleRoll up your sleeves and get on board, if you are ready to be our Lead Frontend Engineer. The role would involve working with the Marketplace Platform team to help plan and build meaningful and intuitive web experiences for our users both internal and external to Gojek.The Marketplace Platform Team is currently working on the platformization of our capabilities. This includes analysis and improvement of our current use cases to make them better suited for a platform solution which can be used by consumers both inside and outside of Gojek. As a Lead Frontend Engineer, you will be working along with product managers and other business stakeholders to find areas where we can leverage expert quality UI and UX to solve or support business use-cases. The application will be the gateway through which external stakeholders can interact with and make use of Marketplace Capabilities. In simpler words, we will be adding visuals and interactivity for complex business and engineering entities within the Marketplace. You will be building a suite of features targeted towards different types of users like Engineers,  Product Managers, Business Leaders and Operations teams. You will also be collaborating with the user research team to understand the behavior and usage pattern of the solution by our users which would provide unique insights to improve and build on. Along with feature building, you will also be contributing to the tooling and libraries that will help other engineers build and ship their own frontend experiences as part of the platform.

What You Will Do

• Work with product managers and business stakeholders to understand the nature and background of the problems.
• Work with product managers and product designers early in the design phase to provide inputs and suggestions regarding the complexity and feasibility of the solutions being planned.
• Plan and write technical specifications and architecture decisions for the features and frontend solutions before and during implementation.
• Own and Implement the features using the technology stack that we have in place while bringing in flavours of latest but proven trends and methods.
• Build and contribute to horizontal tooling which can be used by other teams in the Marketplace.
• Ensure that the application is robust by writing automated tests which covers all the critical flows in the application.
• Understand and contribute to the deployment lifecycle of the codebase using Gitlab CI Runners.
• Mentor and Guide the junior engineers in the team towards making them better engineers in their respective areas.

What You Will Need

• 6 to 8 years of experience in building interactive desktop and mobile web applications using HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript.
• Familiarity with design tools like Figma, Sketch, Overflow etc to be able successfully collaborate with product designers.
• Solid command over React JS with the flavor of Typescript. Familiarity with NextJS and Tailwind CSS will earn you brownie points.
• Keen design and UX sense to analyze and understand the designs and wireframes.
• Solid experience in architecting web applications that sit on top of complex business logic.
• Good understanding of common web security threats and practices along with OWASP 10 along with familiarity in infrastructure for deployment and delivery of frontend experiences.
• Basic understanding of Node and Express JS to be used as a BFF server.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to help in collaboration and stakeholder management.
